I want the ability for Appetizer to fetch icons from .dll files.

There are some nice ones in Vista's shell32.dll that I would like to use for shortcuts.

Try extracting the icons you want from the dll using a program like resource hacker.

Appetizer already supports .dll files. Just right-click on an icon, and select Properties. Then click on "Change icon" and browse to the dll file.
